Plant Design Automation Services

Plant and facility owner/operators and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) organizations are fast discovering that they need effective solutions for the management of their engineering information. Only then can they properly track the evolving configuration of their plants from conception through construction, operation, maintenance and revamps, to eventual decommissioning. The potential benefits arising from the effective management of engineering information are enormous, and competitive pressures are such that companies recognize the compelling need to invest in this area to survive and prosper.

Avineon's Plant Design Automation division provides the following services:

Intelligent 3D Plant Modeling
Avineon offers 3D modeling services covering all plant engineering disciplines such as equipment, structural, civil, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and HVAC. These services are offered using Intergraph’s Plant Design System (PDS), AVEVA’s PDMS, Bentley’s Plant Space and AutoPlant.

These services are offered based on the requirements of O/O, EPC contractors/engineering consultants who:

  • Possess 2D detail engineering capabilities but do not have 3D modeling capabilities as per customer/project requirements
  • Have limited 3D modeling resources and would like to outsource 3D modeling services.
  • Need 3D modeling of a project which is similar to the existing project on 2D platform and do necessary changes.
  • Require As-builting of existing plant on 3D platform

Various specification sheets and 2D drawings developed by EPCs are used as inputs for modeling structures, equipment, pipes and piping components, instruments, electrical cable trays, and HVAC.

On completion of the 3D modeling activity, Avineon can generate interference/clash detection reports. Once clashes have been reviewed and accepted / removed, Avineon can extract general arrangement drawings (GADs), detailed isometric drawings, and detailed 'material take off' lists (MTOs) for use at the construction site.

3D Modeling
We provide a complete range of 3D modeling services for structural, equipment, piping and instrumentation.

Structural Modeling
Preliminary equipment layout from 'know-how' supplier, static and dynamic load data, dimensions from equipment vendors, site data, wind and climatic conditions, seismological data and soil data are typical inputs required for modeling and engineering of structure. Avineon creates the basic structural 3D model in PDS/PDMS/Plant Space. The model is analyzed (using STAAD PRO software) for different operating load conditions as may occur in real operations and locations for example static and dynamic equipment loads, varying wind loads and directions, primary and secondary structural loads, etc.
Structural modeling deliverables include MTO for structural steel, structural GAD, and reports.

Equipment Modeling
Avineon creates equipment models concurrently with other disciplines such as structural, piping, and electrical raceways. Avineon has the experience to adopt good engineering practice to correctly model and place standard and proprietary equipment to achieve the desired degree of accuracy and detail.

Equipment modeling deliverables include equipment layout drawings, equipment list and nozzles schedules.

Piping Modeling
P&ID’s, piping specification, general arrangement drawings, 3D equipment, and structural models are some of the basic inputs for piping engineering and modeling. With the structural framework and the 3D equipment model in place Avineon undertakes the simultaneous modeling and routing of piping.
Pipe routing is accomplished using P&IDs and equipment layouts and by using good engineering practices.
Piping engineering deliverables include isometrics, general arrangement drawings, MTOs, and line lists.

Instrumentation Engineering
Avineon uses INtools software for carrying out instrumentation engineering deliverables and creates an exhaustive electronic database for total project work and subsequent use throughout the lifecycle of the plant. The built-in library of ISA standard specification sheets in INtools are customized as per the project requirements.
Instrumentation deliverables include instrument index, specification sheets, loop wiring diagrams, hook up drawings, schematic control diagrams, calculations, cable schedule, tubing and impulse piping, material take-off (MTO), etc.
