Avineon Successfully Completes ArcFM Data Migration Project for the City of Naperville

Alexandria, VA (October 2, 2003): Avineon, Inc. today announced that it has successfully completed the GIS data migration project for the City of Naperville, Illinois Department of Public Utilities-Electric (DPU-E). Avineon migrated the City's electric facilities GIS data from ArcFM 7.2.1 to an ArcFM 8.3 Geodatabase.

Avineon successfully completed the full data migration within the original project schedule. In addition to data migration, Avineon also processed the DPU-E's backlog work orders remotely using ArcGIS and Citrix technology to integrate them with the existing electric facility data in the City's enterprise-wide ArcFM 8.3 GIS. These efforts have dramatically reduced the backlog of pending work orders in the City's electric system.

The City of Naperville is a rapidly growing western suburb of Chicago in DuPage and Will counties with approximately 135,000 residents. The City's GIS is a multi-departmental implementation that was built not only to serve the application requirements of the City's electric utility, but also the Departments of Public Utility-Water/Wastewater, Public Works, Development Services, Transportation and Engineering, Fire, and Police. The City's electric service territory, roughly equivalent to the City's municipal limits, comprises approximately 46 square miles and includes over 52,000 customers.

Avineon has an extensive background in ArcFM and ESRI software implementation, integration, and application development. Avineon has expanded its ArcFM capabilities to encompass ArcFM Energy 8, with particular emphasis on data model customization and legacy data migration.

Mr. Jim Kivela, GIS/CAD Supervisor of City of Naperville, DPU-E, said, "The effort expended by Avineon's staff and their ability to consistently complete quality work on or ahead of schedule, and without change orders, are a testimony to Avineon's dedication to client satisfaction. The flexibility and technical knowledge of Avineon's management has been one of the key factors in the success of this project, which has probably been one of the smoothest GIS projects this organization has undertaken. We feel that the value we've received for the cost of this project is quite high."
